Bridget Howard is a self-taught artist from Kaysville, UT who now resides in Los Angeles, CA. Painting has always been the artist’s sanctuary to channel her relationship to her humanity as she stretches the boundaries of each medium. The art is not restricted to the canvas as the pieces often spill over the edges or have elements that are built into the canvas to immerse the viewer in the experience. You may find anything from pages of a play, flowers, plaster, paint, ink and resin in the work. Each medium is used to express themes that are based on human nature as well as the elements within it.
Her new series, “Worlds” is about the world we each experience every day. It can be the literal world you see outside, in space or it can be the inner worlds that we create for ourselves. Each piece is an outlet of emotion as it is poured and molded on the circular frames. The fluidity, the colors, the glossy finish, the images that appear to the viewer, act almost like a Rorschach test. What do you see? More importantly, what do you feel? “Speaking of art is useless if one doesn’t feel anything.” – Jean-Sebastien Monzani. This is exactly her intent.
